The importance of cups

Many coffee shops have it all: fantastic coffee, great seats, lovely music and a wonderful atmosphere. The customers are feeling really relaxed and happy in these coffee shops. Everything is great.

But when the customer sits down and actually has a closer look at the cup everything becomes a little less perfect. The cup tells the customer that it comes from a warehouse just down the road. The cup is thin, very light and nothing more special then the cup at home. The cup simply doesn't work with the coffee shop. What a shame.

I have seen this many times before and the excuse I often receive is that the cups always brake and therefore are too expensive. Well, the cups probably break so easily because they are not commercial coffee cups. Proper coffee cups are made of very strong materials and are designed for a commercial environment and will not break as easy. Commercial coffee cups can be also be washed over and over again. The other important reason for good coffee cups is the size. Espresso based drinks such as Caffe Latte's and Cappuccino's all start with an espresso. A regular coffee usually has 1 shot of espresso and a large coffee 2 shots of espresso. This is fine but only if the cups are pretty much twice the size. I have seen a lot of coffee shops that use 8oz for regular and 12oz for large cappuccino's. The large cappuccino cup is not twice the size but still has twice the amount of espresso making it a much stronger drink. The result here is that the larger drink might be too strong for most people. And of course this results in complaints and loss of money!

Please do look around for good commercial cups, it is really worth it!
